The Five-Minute Inflation Checklist for Your Next Trip

A short check of pressure, power, and accessories can help you leave more prepared for the road or the water.

Preparation does not need to be complicated. A few deliberate checks before you leave can prevent a missing adapter or uncharged battery from becoming the first surprise of the day. Use this EVALAST checklist as a starting point, then follow the instructions for your vehicle, inflatable equipment, and pump.

1. Know your pressure target

For vehicle tires, find the manufacturer's recommended cold-tire pressure on the vehicle placard or in the owner's manual. For a paddle board, use the board maker's stated pressure. Do not substitute the maximum PSI printed on a pump for either target.

2. Look over the equipment

Check tires for obvious damage and look over valves, hoses, and connections before attaching a pump. If something looks damaged or will not hold air, seek the appropriate repair rather than simply adding more pressure.

3. Confirm the power source

Charge a cordless pump according to its manual. If your model supports a 12V vehicle-power option, bring the specified cable and check that the connection is available. A charging port is not necessarily an operating power input.

4. Pack the matching accessories

Make sure the hose and valve adapter for your gear are actually in the bag. Product packages vary, so check the included-accessories list for your model before leaving home.

5. Leave room for a final check

After inflation, disconnect carefully and recheck pressure as the equipment maker directs. Let the device cool if the manual calls for a break after extended operation, and store it clean and dry.

That is the idea behind EVALAST: preparation creates freedom. Save this checklist for your next drive, ride, or day on the water, and see our FAQ for more guidance.
