Before You Inflate a Paddle Board: A Practical SUP Pump Guide
Check your board's pressure and valve, connect the right adapter, and use your SUP pump as its manual directs.
The best time to figure out a paddle-board pump is before you reach the water. A quick check of the board's pressure recommendation, valve, and your pump's accessories can make setup much smoother.
Read the board before the pump
Look for the board manufacturer's recommended inflation pressure on the board or in its manual. That is your target. A pump's maximum rating tells you what the pump can reach, not what your board should receive. The current EVALAST SUP pumps are rated up to 20 PSI, but you should never set that number automatically for every board.
Match the valve and adapter
Before switching the pump on, identify the correct valve adapter for your board and make sure the hose is securely connected. An incomplete seal can slow inflation or produce confusing pressure readings. Included adapters vary by model, so compare your pump's manual and package contents with the valve on your gear.
Select the supported power method
Charge a cordless SUP pump as directed before leaving home. Selected EVALAST SUP pumps also have a specified 12V vehicle-power option; use only the cable and input listed for your exact model. Do not treat a USB charging connection as a substitute for an approved operating power source.
Watch the final pressure
If your model offers a pressure preset and automatic shut-off, enter the board's recommended target and follow the operating steps in the manual. Stay nearby, check the final reading, and disconnect the hose carefully. If your model supports powered deflation, use the correct port and adapter described in its manual; do not assume every SUP pump has that feature.
A SUP pump is made for paddle boards and other compatible inflatables, not for car tires. See the EVALAST FAQ if you are comparing the two product types.
