Automatic Shut-Off Explained: A Helpful Feature, Not a Substitute for Checking

Preset-pressure shut-off can simplify inflation, but the target and final check still belong to you.

Automatic shut-off is one of the most useful features on a compatible portable inflator. On models that include it, you select a target pressure and the device stops when that target is reached. It reduces the need to watch the display every second, but it does not choose the right pressure for you.

The target comes from your equipment

For a vehicle tire, find the manufacturer's recommended cold-tire pressure on the vehicle placard or in the owner's manual. For a paddle board, use the board maker's recommendation. A pump's advertised maximum PSI is a capability limit, not a target for every item.

Set up the connection carefully

Confirm that the hose and adapter match the valve, attach them securely, select the correct unit, and enter the recommended pressure if your model supports presets. Follow the sequence in the manual for your particular EVALAST product. Feature availability and controls vary across the lineup.

Check after the pump stops

Remain near the device while it operates. When it stops, disconnect according to the manual and verify the final pressure with an appropriate gauge or as the equipment maker directs. Temperature, the valve connection, and measuring method can affect a reading.

If an inflator stops unexpectedly, check its power level or connection, the selected mode and target, and any cooling instructions in the manual. Do not keep running a device that appears damaged or overheated; contact support if the issue continues.

The goal is not to replace good judgment with a feature. It is to make a familiar task more straightforward. You set the right target; the tool helps you reach it. More troubleshooting guidance is available in our FAQ.
